Course Description
This class is designed to help developers stay current on the application security (AppSec) knowledge and skills they need to continue delivering secure code.
The topics we’ll cover during this half-day session include:
- AppSec’s role in managing risk;
- The 2021 update to the OWASP Top Ten;
- Review of secure coding practices to protect against key vulnerabilities;
- Privacy considerations for secure development; and
- Maintaining assurance throughout the software lifecycle.
Your Instructors
Raafey Khan
An eternal security optimist, Raafey Khan has been helping organisations in NZ and the UK understand their cyber risk and why they should at least try to embed security into their development processes.
As a founding member of Datacom’s Application Security Services team, Raafey attempts to do more of the same for Datacom’s clients, with a real focus on automating everything and making security stupidly simple.
JP Sikking
JP is the founder and Director of Datacom’s AppSec Services team.
John DiLeo
Dr. John DiLeo is the Auckland-area leader of the OWASP New Zealand Chapter. As a founding member of Datacom’s AppSec Services team, John heads up a consulting team that helps enterprises develop and mature their software assurance programs, with emphasis on governance, threat modelling and risk-based requirements, secure development practices, and security training.
